Sheikh Ibrahim Hassan Batargi laid the foundation for the Batargi family’s business in general trade, and he was one of the most active businessmen in Jeddah (the coastal city on the Red Sea).

The US Embassy leased the historic Batterjee family home, marking the first contract for a US Embassy site in the area, and the first UK oil company presence in the region as well.

Sheikh Abdul Raouf established the necessary relationships for the pharmaceutical business with multinational companies as the exclusive agent in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Sheikh Abdul Raouf Ibrahim Batterjee spearheaded the foundation for a new future of business, and he also established the pharmaceutical business sector.

This was a meeting between Upjohn's and Al-Batargi National Pharmacies. Present were the Chairman of Al-Batargi Pharmacies, Sheikh Abdul Raouf Batargi, and his brothers, Sheikh Abdul Hamid Batargi and Sheikh Mohammed Batargi (may God have mercy on them all), as well as the heads of Upjohn's: the Regional General Manager and the Middle East Manager. The meeting took place in Sheikh Abdul Raouf Batargi's office, the same office where Upjohn's first order was placed in 1945.
